Hammonds House Museum is presenting “Infinite Inheritance” and “O Jogo Bonito (The Beautiful Game),” two exhibitions by artist Steve R. Allen on view through Aug. 23.
Together, the exhibitions explore Black identity, spirituality, excellence and cultural continuity through Allen’s “Fractal Afro Futuristic” visual language. The works examine intersections of mathematics, ancestral knowledge, athletics, memory and imagination through layered compositions and symbolic imagery. “O Jogo Bonito” draws inspiration from international athletics, including the Olympics and World Cup, while “Infinite Inheritance” explores themes of sacred geometry and ancestral imagination.
The exhibitions are on view at Atlanta’s Hammonds House Museum for visitors this summer.
