The High Museum of Art welcomes Columbus-born painter Amy Sherald back to Atlanta with “American Sublime,” a major exhibition showcasing the artist’s signature portraiture and storytelling.
Known globally for her iconic portrait of former First Lady Michelle Obama, Sherald creates striking paintings centered on everyday Black Americans, using vibrant color palettes and emotional depth. The exhibition features nearly 50 works spanning her career, offering visitors an intimate look at identity, culture and representation in contemporary art.
Featuring paintings from 2007 to 2024, The High is the fourth and final venue for the exhibition, which will be on display through Sept. 27.
