Recognized as “the cradle of the Civil Rights Movement” and the birthplace of Martin Luther King Jr., Atlanta has no shortage of ways to observe MLK Day each year, from commemorative services to parades and museum exhibits. This year, a play can be added to the list.
Today through February 12, Aurora Theatre presents “The Mountaintop,” the re-imagined story of MLK and his last night on earth. After delivering his famous “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech, King encounters a mysterious hotel maid the night before his assassination in the production named “Best New Play” in London.
