Emory University is holding a French New Wave series featuring notable, yet overlooked films from the late 1950s to the early 1960s – the era when critics-turned-filmmakers in Paris focused on “cinema of quality” in response to the over-produced cinema in Europe and around the world prevalent at the time.
Curated by Dr. James Steffen, the series will highlight some of the era’s most established filmmakers, including Jean-Luc Godard, Francoise Truffaut and Agnes Varda.
All screenings will be subtitled in English, free and unticketed. Arrive early for introductions from Emory film scholars. Visit the website for showtimes.
