Through a devastating fire, the Great Depression and civil unrest, Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church withstands the test of time, serving and supporting Atlantans along the way.
“Reconnect, Recommit, Recharge,” is the fitting anniversary theme that speaks to the church’s resilience. After the 1917 Great Atlanta Fire, the church body helped displaced families with housing relief.
When the church relocated in 1971 to its current Glenwood Avenue location, it recharged a once largely segregated community with love that superseded racial ignorance. Despite adversity, The Grove remains standing and now serves a 5,000-member congregation in state-of-the-art facilities.
