The Atlanta Falcons Say Farewell to The Dome

by

Atlanta sports fans finally have something to cheer about. The Atlanta Falcons made it to the NFC Championship Sunday opposing the Green Bay Packers in the final game played at the Georgia Dome.

The team, which has represented Atlanta in the NFL since 1966, played its first game in The Dome September 6, 1992, alongside about 71,000 fans. The stadium, planned in the late ‘80s, was built to stop team owner Rankin Smith from moving the team to Jacksonville.

It’ll be an intense game as fans watch the teams duke it out for a spot in Super Bowl LI.
