Loafing Around Atlanta

by

Founded by Deborah and Elton “Chick” Eason in 1972, Creative Loafing is the second-most distributed newspaper in Georgia.

The Easons published its earliest issues out of their basement in Morningside before expanding to other parts of the region in 1987 (first in Charlotte, NC, and then Tampa, FL). They also started the Gwinnett Loaf and Topside Loaf two weekly publications for the northern suburbs in Cobb, Gwinnett, Forsyth and Fulton counties.

By 2001, the different Atlanta-area newspapers merged into Creative Loafing Atlanta, which now has a weekly print circulation of 75,000, and an impressive collection of awards.
