Meet Your Local Feminist Bookstore

by

Tucked away in the heart of Atlanta’s Little Five Points neighborhood is Charis Books & More – the South’s oldest independent feminist bookstore. Desiring a space to foster anti-oppressive and feminist-centered values, Linda Bryant founded Charis in 1974.

Over time, Charis attracted many authors and feminist presses, quickly developing evening reading groups and discussions. This led to the creation of Charis Circle – a sister non-profit dedicated to hosting programs and events that promote social justice, celebrate marginalized identities and cultivate feminist communities.

From Maya Angelou to emerging writers, Charis has hosted important voices yearning for a more inclusive world.
