Atlanta holiday tradition bids farewell

by The 100 Companies

For more than 50 years, Priscilla, Macy’s Pink Pig, had been a tradition for Atlantans during the holiday season. After taking last year off due to COVID-19, Macy’s recently announced that 2019 was the last year for the popular holiday ride and it would not be returning.

Beginning in 1953 at Rich’s downtown department store, the iconic monorail train ride carried families through a life-size storybook, including the original Pink Pig and more holiday characters.

Although the Pink Pig may be retiring, Macy’s other annual tradition, Macy’s Atlanta Great Tree, will still be lit up on top of Lenox Square.
