Bernie Taupin is best known as the writer behind Elton John’s biggest hits. A lifelong visual artist, in the early ’90s, he shifted the main focus of his creative endeavors to painting.
Atlantans can now view his work through Nov. 22 in the exhibit “Bernie Taupin: Lost & Found,” on display at Buckhead’s Bill Lowe Gallery.
His work taps into broad philosophical and thematic concerns and has become characterized by sculptural constructions which extend off and through the picture plane, giving each image a 3D effect. Pieces typically include found objects, repurposed materials, artifacts, manipulated flags, scorched paper and more.
