Pinky Cole, founder of Atlanta vegan restaurant Slutty Vegan, and partner Derrick Hayes, founder of Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks, have become the first restaurateurs to be featured on the cover of Essence magazine.
The pair graced the cover of the national publication’s special January/February issue highlighting Black couples who “bet on love and business.”
In the accompanying feature article, the couple gives insight into their lives as parents, roads to success, love of food and community and creating a family business. They also discuss how their respective businesses are not just about food, but also about giving back to the community.
