AJC columnists help divine our sports disasters

by Jan Schroder

As a youngster, I enjoyed starting each day with coffee and catching up on the latest opinions of AJC’s local columnists.

Then a series of leadership experiments stripped out indigenous voices. We survived the New York Times’ Bill Kovach and USA Today’s Ron Martin eras only to suffer through Cox Newspapers’ merry-go-round of detached Dayton, Ohio, offspring that left our local daily soul-less.

Fortunately, the sports section endured – providing daily doses of insight from columnists Jeff Schultz and Mark Bradley. Though our local teams usually disappoint, for three decades these two columnists offered humor, perspective and comfort.
