While the proliferation of affordable drones has opened up the skies for hobbyist pilots and filmmakers, the deep blue still remains a mystery for most.
That’s about to change with the OpenROV Trident, a sleek and powerful underwater drone now crowdfunding on Kickstarter with a price tag of less than $1,000.
The Trident can “fly” through water at speeds of up to two meters per second as you pilot it from the surface on your phone, laptop or tablet. Unfortunately, radio waves don’t travel well through water, so the Trident attaches to a long-range wifi buoy via a 25-meter tether.
