Eleven years ago, architects Wakefield Beasley & Associates (WBA) started work on a new mixed-use development that, unfortunately, never came to fruition – thanks to the Great Recession.
Last year, with a new developer and support from Alpharetta, Avalon re-launched and last Thursday celebrated its four-day grand opening. WBA is master architect on the $600M, 2.4M sf mixed-use development, along with 75 retailers, 250 luxury apartment homes, 101 single-family homes, office space and a movie theater.
WBA is moving its offices into Avalon this month, but the architects have little time to celebrate – Alpharetta just approved Phase II’s 2015 construction start.
