Westside Cultural Arts Center Unveils Timely Exhibit

by

In honor of Black Heritage Month, Westside Cultural Arts Center is unveiling a new exhibit tomorrow that Founder Dr. James L. Chappuis believes will “push boundaries and prompt conversations in a large social setting.”

Okeeba Jubalo’s “The Dirty Dozen: Jim Crow Fantasies” offers an examination of the state of race relations in America today. The 12 mixed-media paintings, which incorporate hand-written poetry and aged photographs, address the struggles faced by African-Americans today, while remembering the sacrifices made in the past.

The exhibit’s opening is tomorrow night from 6-9PM, and will remain on display through March 20.
