It’s an age-old formula: struggling shoe factory heir meets stiletto-wearing, strutting drag queen and creates a line of high-heeled boots. It’s actually based on a true story, but don’t tell me what happens next, as I’ve been waiting years to see the Tony Award-winning musical Kinky Boots.
The score is by Cyndi Lauper, the book by Harvey Fierstein and choreography by Jerry Mitchell, all Tony award winners themselves.
The show is on a national tour and comes to Atlanta as part of the Broadway in Atlanta series, playing at the Fox Theatre March 29-April 3.
