I’ve often heard people extoll the virtues of a strong work ethic. Heads automatically nod in agreement. But what is the definition of a “strong work ethic?” Is it just hours worked?
Each of us has to define “strong work ethic” in the context of our jobs and what constitutes success. Revenues? Output? Quality?
For lawyers, “strong work ethic” likely means more billable hours. For salespeople, it’s more sales calls but also more closings per call.
In defining success, we define “strong work ethic.” And since we each control our attitudes, adopting that strong work ethic should be easy, right?
