Five Places for Hiking in Fall Foliage

by

On a trip to a North Georgia lake this weekend, the leaves were just beginning to turn. The Nature Conservancy recommends several spots for hiking to take in the fall foliage.

• Jacks River Falls Trail in the Cohutta Wilderness has 16 miles of family-friendly trails.

Marshall Forest Preserve includes 300 acres with old-growth pine-hardwoods near Rome.

Lula Lake in Lookout Mountain features an 80-foot waterfall.

• Explore an ancient rock wall at Fort Mountain State Park, also near the Cohutta Wilderness.

• The Aska Trail System near Lake Blue Ridge has 17 miles for hiking and mountain biking.
