Are Tesla’s Cars Polluting Hong Kong?

by

On American roads dominated by gas-guzzling SUVs and carbon-spewing commuter buses, Teslas elegantly hum among us, sipping electricity with their pinkies out. So why are Hong Kong environmentalists condemning our environment’s silent protectors?

While Teslas don’t guzzle gas, they require beaucoup kilowatts generated from other power sources. In the US, our power comes from equal parts coal, fossil fuels and renewables. Hong Kong generates their power mostly from greenhouse gassy coal.

So while Teslas in America indirectly run on a balanced energy cocktail, Teslas in Hong Kong indirectly run on coal. Will Teslas become the Hummers of Asia?
